The Organization
Five Valleys Land Trust is a non-profit, conservation organization founded in 1972 whose mission is to protect and preserve western Montana’s natural legacy—our river corridors, wildlife habitat, agricultural lands, and scenic open spaces. Against a backdrop of dramatic social and economic change, the bond between people and this place is the foundation for the conservation work of Five Valleys.
FVLT works with private landowners, communities, public agencies and organizations to help ensure that the natural resources that have sustained us in the past continue to enhance our quality of life and the lives of our children.
Our organization is led by knowledgeable and dedicated staff and directed by a volunteer board made up of business leaders and landowners who care deeply about maintaining the quality of life we enjoy in western Montana.
We have built a strong reputation for getting land conservation projects done by attracting funding and working collaboratively. Additionally, Five Valleys was among the first land trusts in the nation to be accredited by the Land Trust Alliance, assuring our continued reputation as a trusted partner for private landowners and public agencies.
