Mount Dean Stone Needs You!

Five Valleys recently submitted a proposal to the Missoula City Council requesting that the City acquire the 350-acre Mount Dean Stone Corridor along with the Corridor's nearly completed "High, Wide, and Handsome Trail." You can help conserve this special place by voicing your support for the Mount Dean Stone Corridor to the Missoula City Council in one of two ways:

  1. Leave feedback and learn more about the Mount Dean Stone Corridor by visiting the Mount Dean Stone Corridor's Engage Missoula page. Engage Missoula is a great resource that is chock-full of information, maps, photos and more. Head over to the site, register, and support the project by voicing your support!
  1. Or share your enthusiasm for the project with City Council representatives directly by emailing your Ward Representatives.

Submit your comments by Sunday, December 6th! The City Council will be voting on the Mount Dean Stone Corridor proposal on Monday, December 7th.

Located between the South Hills Spur and the Mount Dean Stone summit, City acquisition of the Corridor and trail would:

  • Promote health and wellness by opening over five miles of new trail.
  • Add 350 acres to Missoula’s conservation lands system to meet the growing need for open space and trails.
  • Adapt to climate change by improving forest health and reducing wildfire risk close to town.
