Our Extraordinary Place


Our Extraordinary Place
is a multi-media event celebrating Western Montana’s remarkable places and people, their integral roles in enriching our lives and their vital niche in the web of life that sustains the entire planet. The program will be a montage of spoken word, music and images inspired by the natural world. 

The evening’s internationally renowned featured performers have graciously donated their time and talents to thank the community for their support. The scheduled guests include:

EUGENIA CHOI —Virtuoso Violin Soloist: Described by the world’s press as "a sensational force” (La République, France), and "a technical virtuoso" (Berliner Morgenpost, Germany), Ms. Choi has been attracting international recognition since her solo concerto debut with orchestra at the age of ten. Ms. Choi has been a featured soloist in Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Vienna Saal-Mozarteum, Benaroya Hall and many other venues. She has also appeared on the CBC, BBC and Bravo! networks. An ardent conservationist, Ms. Choi performs regularly for dignitary events to raise awareness of environmental issues, worldwide. Her evening program features music inspired by nature.

M. SANJAYAN — Lead Scientist, The Nature Conservancy: Sanjayan is a faculty member of the Wildlife Program at The University of Montana and is a widely sought speaker on the environmental and social impact of conservation efforts. His work has received extensive media coverage, including the New York and LA Times, The Independent (UK), National Geographic Adventure and Vanity Fair. Sanjayan has appeared on The David Letterman Show, was featured during Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week” and is a frequent guest on NBC’s The Today Show. Sanjayan’s program reveals how our place and local conservation work serves and influences global efforts.

CHRISTOPHER HAHN — Acclaimed Concert Pianist: Mr. Hahn has performed as a solo and collaborative artist throughout North America and Europe.  He has been featured in recital at Carnegie Hall—Weill Recital Hall and The Music Gallery in Toronto, and has performed with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Orchestra and the Missoula Symphony Orchestra.  An assistant professor of piano at the University of Montana, Hahn recently received an award for Meritorious Teaching & Creative Activity.
