August is national Make-A-Will Month, and a perfect time to consider how you can make a lasting impact with a legacy gift. By including Five Valleys in your estate plan, you create a legacy of protecting and caring for the western Montana you love.
Dedicated supporters, Ann Karp and J Reilly, recently included Five Valleys in their will.
“We wanted to write a will now, while we're in good health, so that it's not a burden that we have to tackle later - or worse, that someone else has to do for us," says Ann. "We wanted to make it easier for family and friends to know our wishes. Most of all, we want to make sure that whatever assets we leave behind will help other people, animals, and the planet."
J adds, “We see the good that Five Valleys has done in our valley and beyond, and the impact it has on the habitat, now and in the future, for both humans and the environment. As people who love to hike, run, ski, and camp in wild places, we want our legacy to be a small act of gratitude for all that the natural world has given us. “
In Montana, if you pass on without a will, the State decides who receives the resources you have worked a lifetime to build. Yet, more than 70% of Americans do not have a valid will! By having a will in place, you can choose where your resources go, ensure that your loved ones know your intentions, support your favorite charities, and minimize the risk that the courts will get involved.
There's no time like the present to write or update your will. Creating a will can be an inexpensive process, and including causes you belivec in can be as simple as adding just two sentences. There is even a free online service, FreeWill.com, that can help you get started.
Visit Five Valleys' legacy giving page for a list of giving tools and simple draft language you can use. If you do remember us in your will, please let us know by filling out this simple form so we can thank you for your incredible generosity!
