In June, Five Valleys, Run Wild Missoula, MTB Missoula, City of Missoula Parks & Recreation and The Nature Conservancy opened the newest trail on Mount Dean Stone: The House of Sky Trail.

The 4.6-mile House of Sky Trail runs along the ridge, connecting the Mount Dean Stone Preserve Trail (below the summit and radio towers) to the Skyline Ridge access point in Deer Creek. House of Sky forms the backbone of the mountain's trail network by five trailheads: Barmeyer, Sousa, Inez Creek, Little Park Creek and Skyline Ridge.

So, grab your shoes, pack some water, and download the 2022 Mount Dean Stone Access Map to start your adventure!

Seasonal Dog Restrictions and Closures

Mount Dean Stone provides important winter and calving habitat for elk and other wildlife. In order to conserve wildlife habitat and maintain Mount Dean Stone's wild character, the House of Sky Trail is closed to human use from December 1 - May 15.

This mirrors a seasonal dog restriction from December 1 – May 15 on the Mount Dean Stone Preserve Trail for all points above the South Hills Spur.
